Among the multitude of the accomplishments of Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha is the establishment of Sri Sharada Dhanvantari Charitable Hospital at Sringeri. This initiative was taken up to remedy the lack of primary health care in Sringeri,

             The Hospital was started in the year 1979 in Commemoration of under a Medical Foundation in the same name. His Holinss of the Sharada Peetam, is the chief patron and His Holiness , the Patron of the Medical Foundation.

The hospital is being managed by a Managing Committee with Padmashree Dr. V. R Gowri Shankar, Administrator of Sringeri muth and properties as the President and Dr. P. Narayana, a noted physician in Shimoga as the Chairman. The Committee has members drawn from different professions.

             The Hospital is serving the people irrespective of caste, creed and race. The hospital is well equipped to render primary medical care with 24x7 services. It has all the basic departments like medicine, surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics and Dentistry. Laboratory and Pharmacy are attached to the hospital. Recently started Ayurvedic wing offers all Ayurvedic procedures in the Kerala tradition. A Nursing Institute is attached to the hospital. Specialists from different disciplines visit the hospital regularly and provide consultancy services.
